The Faculty of Agro-industry

The Faculty of Agro-industry carries out physico chemical analysis and microbiological testing on food when requested, as well as providing courses and workshops related to:

  • Food and nutrition: producing good, balanced diets (in theory and practice), and assisting with the dietary requirements of schools and community housing.
  • Producing jams and working with fruits and vegetables.

These activities are carried out in the communities themselves or in food laboratories at the university, with the intention of diversifying food production using local natural resources and improving diets amongst the rural population.  Another important function undertaken by the institute, in conjunction with the Hydrology Institute, is producing water treatment plants.
